Here is a little ditty you can sing to help celebrate this special occasion
(To the tune of “My Favorite
Things” from The Sound of Music)
My Favorite Things
Chocolate on pretzels and visiting beaches
Taking vacations off to the far reaches
Reading a good book has joy that it brings
But corndogs are simply my favorite things!
doo do do doo do doo....
Laughing with Kevin and playing with Maggie
Shopping at Thrift town for clothes not too raggy
Watching my daughter who dances and sings...
But corndogs are simply my favorite things!
When it's August,
August 15th,
And I need to eat,
I simply devour my favorite things
And that is a suuuu-per treat!
Hello my friends,
It is finally here -- the happiest day of my year! August 15th is National Corndog Awareness Day. Are you aware? I certainly hope so. And if you weren't before, you sure will be now!
Here is how I plan to spend my day. I am sure it is quite similar to how you will be spending yours...
1) Wake up with a smile on my face, after a night of dreaming all about delicious corndogs:
2) Get up, get dressed and put on all of my corndog accessories:
3) Now that I am ready to go, I need to really think about what sorts of things I will need to purchase to help me celebrate the day properly. I have to write out a list:
4) Get in my car and head to the grocery store:
5) Once at the store, I have my little Corndog Lady in Waiting help me out (don't call her the "corndog princess" or I will have to break your legs. The whole "princess" thing makes me want to barf. And barfing is no good when I am wanting to eat corndogs! Not good at all...) So. My Corndog Lady in Waiting assists me:
6) Back home, we get the grill all warmed up (F.Y.I. -- a corndog cooked in the microwave? NOT a corndog! Either bake it or grill it or best of all -- deep fry it! But do not microwave it. That is just sacrilege.) Put it on the grill:
7) Now that your corndogs have toasted to perfection, go on and have a taste:
8) You can add ketchup, mustard, whatever works for you, but the most important thing of all...Enjoy it!
Have a wonderful Corndog Awareness Day! Love, the Corndog Queen
Okay, so, apparently my National Corndog Awareness Day on the 15th of August is not the only time of year when Corndogs are celebrated. There is a very large, and very computer savvy group of people who get together every year and combine March Madness Basketball with the devouring of corndogs. This year, it will be on the 17th of March. And I just went to their website, and laughed out loud when I saw some of their posters to commemorate the day. Some of the ideas I have used myself!
And while I would like to add that I have been celebrating N.C.D.A day since 1990 ( seventeen years, suckahs!) I think it is wonderful that so many people are taking up the cause. The more days of corndog celebration, the better. Please understand that I am not trying to compete or anything, but I must make mention that although these corndog parties are great and everything, they are missing the one secret ingredient that I alone posess....
The tiniest, cutest corndog mascot in the world:
And THAT is all I have to say about that!
